On March 6, Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone Software Roadmap and SDK
Announcing the iPhone Enterprise Beta Program: a unique opportunity for IT departments to try iPhone 2.0 software before general release. If your company is selected to participate, you’ll test new iPhone enterprise features within your corporate environment, then provide Apple with valuable feedback.

Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support.

If your office uses Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or 2007, iPhone 2.0 software will allow you to wirelessly push company email, calendar events, and contacts over Wi-Fi or EDGE networks to iPhones. With secure push email and over-the-air contacts and calendar features, users will stay up to date wherever they go. And thanks to the iPhone Multi-Touch display, users will find it easier to perform common tasks such as accepting meeting invitations and finding contacts in the company directory or Global Address List (GAL).

IT administrators can securely manage any iPhone that contains confidential company information with remote wipe and enforced security and password policies. These device configuration and remote management capabilities allow IT departments to quickly and seamlessly deploy iPhone throughout their companies.

Enterprise-grade networking.

iPhone 2.0 software supports Cisco IPsec VPN to ensure the highest level of IP-based encryption for transmission of sensitive company information. Employees will be able to authenticate via password, two-factor token, or digital certificate. iPhone will also support WPA2 Enterprise with 802.1x authentication — the standard for Wi-Fi network protection. These features help provide safe access to sensitive company information on iPhone.

Writing for Digital Arts, Steve Paris awards apature a four-star (out of five) rating and proclaims it “a great version that will please professional photographers and other creatives working with large collections of photos.” The redesign, Paris says, “has made the application more streamlined and efficient. The addition of new tools means there are even fewer reasons to visit another application when working on your projects, and the speed increases are definitely welcome.” Mar 06, 2008 from Apple.com

Along with Google and SkyHook, Apple has developed ways of locating a iPhone user within Google Maps to provide real time GPS like features without a GPS in the phone itself. Apple is truly making the iphone a can't live without utility. The iPhone is going from accessory to a must have fast.
Set to be released is the long awaited developers kit SDK announced in October of 2007. With this developers utility the number of applications will grow expidentially. Apple already has ways to submit Iphone applications for review.

Apple announces Wednesday October 17 2007 that Apple will be releasing a hack kit for the Apple iPhone in February.. Exactly what iphone enthusiast will be able do with the kit is unclear at this point, but the release of the kit clearly shows Apple wants keep up with hackers. From what we gather is that consumers will be able to unlock the iPhone fairly easily and developers will be able to develop applications for the phone. The release of the iPhone hack kit should increase sales of the iphone after the Holiday Season wraps up. Not to say the iPhone needs a boost at this time. Sales of the phone are still strong on Ebay and other auction sites. Apple simply must have thought if you can't beat them, they had better join them. After all the iPhone was hacked within a month of its release. Dropping the inclusive attitude should really boost sales. People who swore they would not buy the iPhone will now give a second thought to it. Sense this article was writen the gphone has been announced. We will See What happens with iPhone sales ?
