Based on more than forty interviews with Jobs conducted over two years—as well as interviews with more than a hundred family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues—Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing.

At a time when America is seeking ways to sustain its innovative edge, and when societies around the world are trying to build digital-age economies, Jobs stands as the ultimate icon of inventiveness and applied imagination. He knew that the best way to create value in the twenty-first century was to connect creativity with technology. He built a company where leaps of the imagination were combined with remarkable feats of engineering.

Although Jobs cooperated with this book, he asked for no control over what was written nor even the right to read it before it was published. He put nothing off-limits. He encouraged the people he knew to speak honestly. And Jobs speaks candidly, sometimes brutally so, about the people he worked with and competed against. His friends, foes, and colleagues provide an unvarnished view of the passions, perfectionism, obsessions, artistry, devilry, and compulsion for control that shaped his approach to business and the innovative products that resulted.

Driven by demons, Jobs could drive those around him to fury and despair. But his personality and products were interrelated, just as Apple’s hardware and software tended to be, as if part of an integrated system. His tale is instructive and cautionary, filled with lessons about innovation, character, leadership, and values.

Its looking like Verizon Wireless is cracking AT&T hold on Apple iPhone sales statistics.

iPhone 4S appears to be luring away customers who have been using Android phones, Morgan Keegan analyst Tavis McCourt asserts in a research note.

Verizon reportedly has sold 2 million iPhones and its numbers are rising faster than AT&Ts numbers. Forbes magazine and other online portals are reports Blackberry and Android users are jumping ship to iPhone because they don't have to change provideers. Makes sense.

Is he too sick or sick of work. The later is very unlikly. He will be on the board and continue to work at Apple.

Apple said Mr. Jobs submitted his resignation to the board of directors on Wednesday and "strongly recommended" that the board name Mr. Cook as his successor. Mr. Jobs, 56 years old, has been elected chairman of the board and Mr. Cook will join the board, effective immediately, the company said.

"I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know," Mr. Jobs said in his resignation letter. "Unfortunately, that day has come."

In keeping with 3G S speculation is growing that the next Apple iPhone will be the 4S. Makes sense to us as Apple abandon the G part of the equasion a year back.

Forbes has led the charge with the 4S claims with quotes from industry insiders.

“According to our industry checks, the device should be called iPhone 4S and include minor cosmetic changes, better cameras, A5 dual-core processor, and HSPA+ support,” he writes in a research note.

But he also says that “industry checks indicate Apple will likely announce Sprint, T-Mobile, and China Mobile as new carriers.”

When we see and hear speculation prior to a release it reminds us of the previous year. Apple is on a manufacturing and product release scheldule and its Summer and Holiday. Anyone can assume a launch will come during those times.

Will we even see a iPhone 4 update or an iPhone 4 S only Apple nows now. With disaster in Japan and other delays it could be the Holiday season before we see any new iPhone.
